OKAY NOW BACK TO BUSINESS
Things to know:
- WENT TO THE TEMPLE WITH MY FRIENDS!!! The drive up was a bit scary because of a storm on Friday, but thankfully it was not my time to go yet #blessingsistillgettohugmymomin25days !! We got to the temple safely and it. was. AMAZING! I wish I had the words to describe it. All I can say is that these temple trips have been the biggest blessings for the end of my mission! It's like the little cherry on top. Mike small got to baptize sister peterson and I at the temple and he said to us after: "I feel like I've come full circle getting to baptize the people who helped me get baptized"
- Mike small also invited us to his patriarchal blessing?! OH my goodness it was awesome. I honestly didn't think that was allowed but he said the patriarch told him he could bring a couple people, and he didn't have any family or other close friends he wanted to come, so he invited us :,) I AM SO GRATEFUL TO SEE THE CHANGES THIS GOSPEL MAKES IN THE LIVES OF OTHERS!!! It is truly sooo special
- We started teaching the coolest person ever again this week! Her name is Ashley and she has some family that are members and she literally told us she has been reading the Book of Mormon and she asked US about church this weekend.
- It was Elder Cleverly's birthday this week on Friday too and since it was district council day we could do a lunch! So we had a fun lil birthday celebration for him. We may or may not have got him a talking ELF on the shelf (Like the actual Will Ferrell elf) because they are the same person lol.
- Anyway besides that nothing too crazy, just the usual! We did lots of service this week and one of those days was deep cleaning our apartment... And we also caught a little friend. This is literally my second apartment with a mouse?! Haha I swear I'm not a slob... missionary apartments are just... well... you know #restinpeacemickey
Also our heater is broken. Please pray for my toes. It was 59 degrees.
Stories of the week:
- Best one was at the temple this weekend. We are sitting in the waiting room with everyone, and the temple workers and temple president come in to talk to my 4 friends there about the temple and baptisms and all that jazz. It was great, and really cool the temple president came to talk to everyone!! In the middle of his very spiritual message, Katee bursts out "Oh my gosh I love your guys' outfits!" (They're dressed in all white). It was priceless haha. To which the temple president replied to her: "You'll get to be dressed in white very soon!". She fist pumped the air and said "Yesss!" Oh how I love Katee and her enthusiasm!!!
- Okay last one. So picture this: Sister Dickson is walking up to the pulpit to give her last testimony as a missionary. Suddenly she stops! She bends over right before she gets to the microphone. She stands up and holds something she picked up off the ground to show everyone. She says into the microphone in front of everyone: "There's a caterpillar?!" She continues while laughing, "I don't know what to do with it!". And one of the members of the bishopric holds his hand out and she plops it into his hands while the whole congregation laughs. The end! Haha it honestly was so funny. It probably was not the most reverent thing to do at the beginning of my testimony... but I didn't want anyone to step on the caterpillar! I guess he probably just wanted to bear his testimony too. Brother Gammill (the member of the bishopric) got up after me and said no caterpillars were harmed in the making of his testimony. Good times.
Spiritual thought:
- This week in come follow me we talked about the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. When they were about to be cast into a furnace for not worshipping an idol the King had created they said: "If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up".
And we really emphasized the power behind the phrase "But if not" and how it showed true faith. We can fill in the blanks with whatever situation we may be in! "God will answer my prayers. But if not... I will continue to trust in his timing" and so on and so forth. It's a lot easier said than done to have faith like that while you're in the middle of your own storms, but I just loved that concept! That we can continue to trust God even when He doesn't do what we know He can, because He has another plan
