Week 42: Blessings pouring down like rain

Hey y'all! I accidentally deleted like half of my email list oops hehe so I'm so sorry if its been a minute. But it should be fixed now so here's the update for ya:

Things to know:
- Our friend Terry came to church and wants to get baptized on the 12th! She is such a legend. She brings her Book of Mormon everywhere and has been cigarette free for over a week!
- We met 12 new friends this week, and 3 of them were super cool miracles, I'll talk about them later and try not to make this email super long haha.
- We had a fly by with our stake president and he's just the best. He told me some friends stopped by earlier & said to say hi to me too so that was pretty cool! #fg
- We did lots of service too & I liked it a lot

Stories for the week:
- Okay I can't remember if I already told this story but it's a good one so sorry if this is a repeat. But when I was in quarantine in the Valley, Sister Archibald and I found a new friend while calling all the people that used to be taught. We called this one lady named Chantel who said that she had literally been praying for direction from God and then we called! We started teaching her, and she was so amazing. We would suggest chapters for her to read in the BOM, and she would read MORE! Well anyways, SHE GOT BAPTIZED THIS WEEK! Ahh I love seeing God's hand in this work.
- Okay so quickie miracles for the new friends, this week I was praying asking God who we could go visit and the name Nicole popped into my head. So we go and visit all these grey dots named Nicole, and no one was answering. We get to the last one and this couple answers the door and say that Nicole doesn't live there. We almost got saddy until we started teaching the couple and they said they would love to learn more! So we set up that return appt and made 2 new #miracles

Spiritual thought:
- Sometimes I get to this portion and I have no idea what to write haha. So then I just wing it #spirit. There was a scripture I read this week that I loved. It's in 2 Nephi 5:27 and it says: "And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness". And I just loved that! Nephi and his people lived in happiness because they were following the gospel of Jesus Christ. This gospel is truly what can bring us the most happiness in this life and in the life to come. I know that it doesn't mean we will be happy every single day, but that's okay! Happiness comes in waves and it will find you again, especially if you are following God.

Have a good week :)))

Week 41: Lots of 'Bragg'ing

What's up team! Hope ya'll had a good week, because this week was too good:

Things to know:
- We had a Mission Tour this week and Elder Bragg from the 70 came and lemme just say, I was physically exhausted after because that's how strong the spirit was!
- I also got to see all my friends too (including some I never thought I would see again because they went to Russia, and now they're back in Spokane?!)
- Sister Asay hit her one year! She's old
- I went on exchanges with our new STL Sister Evans and she's the best. And we came out together so that's super hype.
- We had two new friends named Carlane and Collin come to church, and they are just the coolest. Excited to give more updates for them after we meet again!
- We got blessings from President Larson and it was probably the coolest thing ever. I love President and Sister Larson so much! Oh and the power of God .
- I also found out this week that someone I taught in the Silver Valley passed away :(( I was really sad, but I'm glad he isn't in pain anymore because his cancer was brutal.

Stories of the week:
- Ken and Maggie came to a baptism this week and it was hands down the best convert baptism I've ever been to. He got up and bore his testimony after, and talked about all the hardships he's been through to get to this point. Every single person in the room was crying because the spirit was so strong, and I look over and Maggie is wiping tears behind her glasses. Maggie texted us afterwards and thanked us for inviting her. She said it was enlightening, and that she wasn't scared to get baptized anymore!
- This happened last p-day but I thought it was really funny. We went downtown for Valentines day and were taking pics and shopping and stuff, and when we first got there we were trying to cross the street to go take pictures on this wall. Sister Cravens started walking across the street and all of the sudden this car comes out of nowhere, and she looked left before right so she didn't see it coming. I literally had no time to think so I yelled "CYBIL" instead of "Sister Cravens". She saw the car and jumped out of the way and we all laughed for like 10 minutes because I called her by her first name. We were glad she didn't get hit by the car though lol.

Spiritual Thought:
- I just wanted to give some quotes (and paraphrases) from our meeting with Elder Bragg because it was so so awesome. I prepared questions beforehand and he answered all of them! They tell us to write down what the spirit teaches and not exact quotes, but I had to do both so that I had something to share. Because my notes are for me haha, so enjoy some Elder Bragg wisdom:

"A prayer begins when you say amen"

"The Savior forgives our sins, but doesn't condone them"

"The Holy Ghost is your senior companion"

"Repentance means turning to God"

"President and Sister LeBaron were called using the same revelation they used to call you"

"Priesthood keys = the power to direct the work of salvation and exaltation"

"Covenants are how we joyfully bind ourselves to Christ"

"If you do nothing else, testify of Jesus Christ and the love of God"

I could go on and on! Truly what an amazing experience to get to hear from a general authority. I feel so blessed!

Love you

Week 40: It's halftime baby!

What's poppin everyone! Hope ya'll had a great week, because then that makes two of us (at least)! I'll just get right into it this week:

Things to know:
-Yessir hit my 9 months. Which is actually insane. I swear time isn't real because this has been the fastest 9 months of my life.
- Ken and Maggie set their own date for March 19th after getting priesthood blessings, and I told them that I pictured them in white the first time I met them (true story), and we were all crying.
- Not a ton of other updates, but we did some fun services this week, we demo'd a house and we also installed lights in another one (felt like I was on home makeover or something).

Stories of the week:
-Saw a sweeet miracle: there was one afternoon we were out contacting people, and literally everything was falling through. So I made a joke saying okay where does God ACTUALLY need us to be. I said a quick prayer in my head in a less joking way, and the name "Kristen" came to mind. Whipped out areabook and there was a yellow-dot named Kristen that I had never met before. We of course listened to the prompting and drove across town to visit her, and she was home! We set up a return appointment and made her new, and she also told us she had been praying for us?! GOD IS GOOD PEOPLE!
- Not really a story but was just funny; we did service for a kooky member in Shadle. He had us take down his Christmas decorations, which consisted of garlands strung across upside down crutches in his yard haha. He opens the door telling his dog to come say hi, and I'm convinced this was actually a rat. He picks it up and says "this is Bubby Ruru", because when I come home he says: "ROOROOOROO" lol. That's all.

Spiritual Thought:
Definitely had a lot of reflection this week on the last 9 months of my mission. I am so dang thankful for this experience, and I wouldn't trade the lessons I've learned for the world! So today I just wanted to share some of my testimony :))

I know that Jesus Christ is MY Savior, and that the power of the Atonement is the greatest blessing and strength I have ever been given. I know that God lives, and He is my loving Father in Heaven. I have seen His hand every single day, and I know that He is in the details of our lives. I know that God answers prayers, and that as we humbly seek for direction and answers to our questions, He will give us revelation. I know that the Holy Ghost speaks to us individually and personally, and that as you trust in the promptings you receive that God will bless you to hear His voice even more. I know that this truly is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and that it is can give us the true joy that we seek! I love this gospel, this life, and all my other blessings! In the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen :))

Honestly could have gone on for a lot longer, but I know that less than half of you will even read that ;)

Love youuu

Week 39: Puking in the snow

What's up friends + fam! Had a wonderful week this week. We got transfer calls yesterday and I am staying in North with Sister Asay and I could not be more excited!!!! I finally will stay in an area ("lets goOOoo" #iykyk) for more than a transfer and a half haha. We have a bunch of friends on date for March so it will be awesome for both Sister Asay and I to get to be together for them.

Things to know:
- Sad news first - our friend Hope texted us this week and said she can't meet with us for awhile because her husband was upset when he found out about our meetings :((
- On a way happier note, someone I got to teach while I was in Shadle Park for one second got baptized! I am so happy for Chris, he and his wife are so amazing.
- Went on exchanges with Sister Wimmer again and as you can tell by the picture below, it was very swag.
- Made 13 new friends this week because we grinded some potentials when all of our lessons kept falling through, which was litty!
- Got to see my homie Elder Mcghie and say a final goodbye because he leaves to Argentina (for real this time!) #seeya

Stories of the week:
- Super cool story real quick: Sister Asay and I are chilling in Sunday school yesterday and this man walks in telling us someone walked into the church asking for the missionaries. We go to the foyer and meet Trisha, who is a very inactive member, but wanted to talk to us. She opened up about some struggles, and how she isn't ready to come back to church here but this is always the first place she turns to. She asked for a priesthood blessing and so we found Bishop, and the spirit was SO strong when she got the blessing! She also agreed to have her records moved to her correct ward in the Mount Stake. So awesome!
- Haha so yeah we did service for a lady this week who wanted us to build a crib. We built that sucker in like an hour with no instructions (please pray it doesn't break when the child tries to sleep in it), and as we are walking outside Sister Asay says "I'm gonna barf". I thought it was a joke just because the house wasn't very clean, but she was definitely not kidding. My companion literally threw up on the side of the road! She hadn't ate anything all morning and was stressed with transfer calls coming poor thing. We were laughing really hard about it later though because I wanted to help her and in the process almost threw up too. Best part was she covered it with snow to hide it lol.

Spiritual thought:
I've been studying repentance a lot lately and have absolutely loved it! Here is an awesome quote I wanted to share -

“The Atonement was designed to do more than restore us to the ‘starting line’—more than just wipe the slate clean. [Its] crowning purpose [is] to endow us with power so that we might overcome each of our weaknesses and acquire the divine traits that would make us like God.” - Tad R. Callister

I hope each of you can continue to draw power from Christ's Atonement as you strive to become better each day :))

Have a great week! Love ya lots

Week 81: How far away is that plane?

Ahhhh. It's a weird feeling writing your last weekly about your last week as a missionary. I have had so many mixed emotions this week. ...
